D B Devall & Son operate a modern fleet of dark metalic blue Mercedes Hearses and limousines. A specialised baby/child hearse is also available and we are able to arrange alternative fleets of Black Daimler and Rolls Royce vehicles upon request.

Horse Drawn Carriages

Horse Drawn Carriages are becoming very popular again and add a magnificent addition to the funeral procession. The Victorian carriages are drawn by a pair of black Friesian horses known as ‘Belgian Blacks’ and are adorned with traditional plumes. These majestic horses and carriages are provided by competent and experienced professionals. Mr Andrew Mansfield and his wife Jenny and colleague Sue Robinson are a local company in Atherstone trading as A J Carriages. The coachmaster and groom will be attired in appropriate equestrian ragalia and are dedicated to providing a service and presentation of the highest quality, respect and dignity.

The exclusive black Friesian horses originate from Friesland in Holland. They have beautiful long flowing manes and tails and are renowned for their placid nature. The striking white Gelderlander horses are also from Holland. The province of Gelderland is next to Friesland. Gelderlanders are famous for their dignified stance and impressive appearance and can be teamed with a either white or silver carriage. Different coloured plumes can be arranged for the horses to wear to accomodate personal wishes or preferences.

All of the horses are exceptionally well looked after and treated with the utmost respect they deserve. Our families can be aasured that their loved one’s final journey will be ‘the very best’
